Quotes

Texas A&M

Name: Jeneba Tormoh

Q: How do you feel about competing here at the Penn Relays?
A: It’s actually a pretty good blessing for me. It’s a one chance in a lifetime thing that happened to me. I’m so happy to be a part of a strong team like this.

Q: Did you feel that the hand passes were smooth? How would you feel this represented this year?
A: Honestly it’s not quite we’ve been able to do and what we can do. But it’s getting better each race we have. I mean, for what it is, it’s pretty good.

Q: How do you feel about the atmosphere in terms of turning in the win this year, the crowd size, etc?
A: This is something that’s going to prepare most of us for our future. We have a really strong team so we all have to get used this if we want to go pro. I love the atmosphere. It’s a great preparation for the rest of my life.

Name: Dominique Duncan

Q: What are your thoughts on being in this venue again and winning another 4x1 title?
A: I didn’t do the 4x1 here [last year], I’m a new add to the 4x1 at the Penn Relays. It’s really exciting. It’s different from the 4x2 that I’ve run. I’m happy that LSU was in the final…had to get that out.

Q: What was it like when the race tightened up during your exchange with Gabby?
A: It was so different because most times I’m way in front, so being close to somebody and having someone in front of me made my handoff mean something. For it to mean something and for it us to push us forward and the competition, it was exciting.

Name: Portia Lucas

Q: It’s always nice to win up here and get a watch. What was it like for you?
A: It was really cool; this is my last year for college here. I’m really excited we could win the 4x1 and I hope we continue to win the relay.

Q: In terms of just having your picture, Bill Cosby being in it, with the coffee and the donut, what was that like?
A: It was really cool, I always get real excited when Bill Cosby comes up and talks to us. I’m just happy we were able get to the podium; get our picture taken with the big plaque and Bill Cosby.

Q: What was like being in this atmosphere again, as a senior, and winning the 4x1?
A: It was fun. The crowd here is great. It always makes the race here more fun and enjoyable.

Name: Gabby Mayo

Q: Thoughts on having that much company with you on the anchor leg.
A: Oh my goodness, once again, we’re back to that. I love it. The competition: it makes everybody go faster. It gives it a nice little atmosphere. Everybody loves competition, loves having someone out there with us for a first time. I like it, it’s cool. LSU are a good team, and they always bring it, and we bring it too.

Q: Thoughts on defending title and atmosphere.
A: I’m happy. Atmosphere’s great. It gets us ready for nationals. This is our halfway point to nationals. We’re happy to be on top at this point.
