It was a battle between defending champions South Florida, TCU, and Howard, as the three teams were fairly even through the first two exchanges. During the final 100m of the third leg, TCU's Bryce Brazzell powered by USF to get to the final exchange first. TCU anchor Iyana Gray increased her team's lead, securing the win by a 10 meter margin in 1:33.04. This was TCU’s first Penn Relays Wheel in this event. Howard's anchor Kiya Lawson passed South Florida’s Malaysia Johnson in the final 50m to finish 2nd overall.
