1200-400-800-1600. Texas A&M took the early lead, building up a 20 meter gap by the end of the 2nd leg. Virginia, Oregon, and Washington were the first chase pack, while local distance powerhouse Villanova was another 25 meters back. Over the course of the 800m leg, Oregon and Washington worked to close the gap on Texas A&M, making a move with 300m to go. Virginia did not keep the pace, ultimately falling back with Villanova and the rest of the field. Going into the final leg, Texas A&M held about a 15m lead over Oregon and Washington. Washington and Oregon continued to cloe the gap on Texas A&M, ultimately catching A&M with 850 meters remaining in the race. Washington waiting on A&M's shoulder, Oregon about a step behind. The main chase group consisted of Virginia, Wisconsin, Villanova, Cornell, and Georgetown as a pack about another 30 meters back. This lead group remained in this formation until 300m to go, when Washington's Nathan Green began speeding away from Texas A&M's Cooper Cawthra. Oregon's Rheinhardt Harrison followed in pursuit. Washington's Green didn't let up, as he found his final gear in the final 70 meters, and powered to Washington's first Relays Wheel in 9:25.22. Oregon was the runner up in 9:26.38. Texas A&M held off a hard charging Virginia by 0.01 to secure third position.
