Edwin Allen (Jamaica) led from the break pole, building up a 10 meter lead by the end of the first lap. Holmwood Tech (Jamaica), Alphansus Davis (Jamaica), and IMG Academy (FL) were the main chasers. The chase pack didn’t catch up with Edwin Allen until the middle of the second leg. IMG Academy tried to pass Edwin Allen as they entered the final turn, but Edwin Allen held on, only to form a 10 meter gap on IMG Academy as they headed into the second exchange. Holmwood Tech and Alphansus Davis were another 30 meters back, battling for third. Edwin Allen held a three step lead over IMG Academy as the third leg progressed. IMG Academy made their move with 200m to go on the leg, moving into the lead as they entered the final curve. Edwin Allen couldn’t respond, so IMG Academy was able to build a 20 meter lead going into the final exchange. At the bell lap, IMG Academy built their lead to 25 meters over Edwin Allen. Holmwood Tech and Alphansus Davis continued ot battle for third, but they were closing the gap on Edwin Allen. Alphansus Davis passed Edwin Allen on the final curve to move into second place, 40 meters behind IMG Academy. IMG Academy cruised to win the event, earning their first Penn Relays wheel in school history, with their winning time being the third fastest in event history.
